June 26, 2008 - Springfield, Kentucky Commissions Lincoln Sculpture for Washington County Judicial Center

FRANKFORT, KY — The City of Springfield has commissioned Paula B. Slater of Hidden Valley Lake, California to produce a ten foot tall, full-figure bronze sculpture of Abraham Lincoln for the new Washington County Judicial Center. The portrait sculpture will be dedicated in Springfield on Lincoln's 200th birthday, February 12th, 2009. Read the full story at http://artscouncil.ky.gov/enews/pr_062608.htm.


The City of Springfield, KY seeks to commission a 1 1/2 size sculpture of Abraham Lincoln to be placed at the new Washington County Judicial Center that is currently under construction and scheduled for completion in November 2008. It is located in downtown Springfield, Kentucky at the corner of East Main Street and South Cross Main Street. The new site is directly across the from the historic 1816 Courthouse that still serves as our Justice Center today. Upon completion of the new center the historic 1816 Courthouse will be converted into the "Abraham Lincoln Ancestral Museum".

Funding for the Abraham Lincoln Sculpture project is provided
by the Kentucky Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission
through the Kentucky Arts Council.
